Contrast

A photo emphasizing the glow between two contrasting shades, using a slow shutter to capture the lights down a tunnel.

Spraying Droplets

A photo capturing the droplets of water as they are sprayed from a tap. An exercise in the usage of a very fast shutter speed.

Passiflora Flower

The rather unique flower of a Florida Passiflora. An example of how a low aperture setting can change the focus of the photo.

The Polar Aurora

A shot taken in the middle of the night, downtown by a busy intersection. The slow shutter speed gives the lights the appearance of an aurora Borealis.

Eye of the Donkey

A portrait style photo of an animal. This shot was taken with a telephoto lens to create the proper angle of viewing and depth of perception.

Macro Bugs

A close up shot of two bugs crouched upon a leaf. I used a standard wide lens for this photo.

Middle East Landscape #4

A shot taken from the back of a camel as I rode through the desert. An interesting example of the way natural light interacts with a landscape.

Middle East Landscape #3

A shot of a Middle Eastern landscape and horizon taken from a bridge. The shot is slightly overexposed in order to brighten up the sky.

Middle East Landscape #2

A shot of the horizon over the Negev desert, with a tree holding watch as the focal point of the photo.

Middle East Landscape #1

A shot capturing the vividness of the evening sky as darkness rolls across the hills.

Olympic Flame in Toronto

A shot of the Olympic torch as it passed through Toronto in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. A fast shutter speed captures the detail of the flames

Weary Eyes

A close up shot of the head of a donkey, and the lies that cluttered across its muzzle.

Calm on the Bayou

A shot of a lake in Florida, capturing the near symmetrical reflection of the reeds and sky in its waters.

16 foot Alligator

A shot of a very large alligator as it moved by my boat in Florida. I used a very fast shutter speed to capture the reptile on photo before it submerged.

Swift Streets

A photo of city lights taken along Yonge street in downtown Toronto. The combination of slight movement and a slow shutter speed created the lightscape effect.

Ribbons

A shot of city lights on a dark night. I moved the camera at the moment the shutter was opening to create the ribbon effect.

Twist and Twirl

A shot of city lights at night. I rotated the camera as the shutter was opening to create the whirlpool effect.

Volcano

A shot of a city street and its traffic. The eruption effect of the lights was created by zooming in and then out when the shutter remained opened.

Textured Leaf

A macro shot of a leaf. The small target is kept in focus while everything behind it is out of focus.

Thorns

A macro shot of a branch from a thorn bush. The middle branches are kept in focus, while the rest is out of focus.

Distant Sky

A shot of the sun and sky beyond a shady canopy of trees. With the proper exposure, the sky is vivid and bright.

Red Amidst Green

A shot of a single red leaf amidst a sea of green. The focus in on the leaf, and justly so.

Pitchfork

A shot I was able to take of lightning, the moment it pitchforks across the sky.

White Wings

A shot of a fast moving butterfly, as it lands on a leaf. Fast shutter speed enabled me to capture it in stillness.

Camera Friendly Butterfly

A shot of a dark butterfly on a leaf. The insect held still and all but posed for the photo.

Macro Butteryfly

A macro shot of a butterfly sitting on a flower. I used a high aperture and a fast shutter speed in order to get the crispest shot possible.

The Pleasant Parrot

A close up shot of a parrot, which looks rather pleased to see me.

Camouflaging Lizard

A shot of a lizard well camouflaged against the branch of a tree. I waited for him to peak out with his head before I took the shot.

Rings

A shot of the pattern on a street pole. I used very little lighting for this shot, and moved in quite close for the picture.
